How Does Kickstarter Work?

    Kickstarter is a website that supports creators with big dreams and ideas. It offers a platform for innovators to fund and launch new products & businesses.

    Creators design a campaign and set a goal to fund their projects. They rely on the support of "backers" - people who pledge to financially support the project.

  • ✽

    Creators offer "rewards" - items or experiences related to the campaign if the project gets fully funded. Backers pledge to donate by essentially buying a reward. This often comes at a high discount.

  • ✽

    Here's the kicker: the creator gets money ONLY if the project gets 100% funded. For example, if the goal is $3,000 and backers pledge only $2,800 by the time the campaign ends, the creator gets nothing.

    Creators offer estimated timelines and frequent updates of the completion of the project once it is funded to ensure backers get what they pledged for.

  • ✽

    Rewards are an excellent way for backers to have access to unique, one-of-a-kind, and brand-new products. But if the project does not get 100% funded, the backer won't pay anything.

  • The campaign goal is $5,200. If the project is fully funded, this money will be used to reprint our two most popular journals in hardcover: Thirty Days of Self-Discovery and Thirty Days of Gratitude: The Good, Bad, Beautiful, and Ugly. It will also be used to purchase ISBN numbers for these journals in order to take steps towards getting into retail spaces such as Amazon.

    If more than $5,200 is available, it will be used to print our other best-sellers, such as Thirty Days of Intentional Parenthood and Thirty Days of Honoring a Loved One. Lastly, any additional monies will allows us to increase marketing efforts to access a wider reach.

  • The campaign will run from September 1st through September 30th. After this period, you may still pledge for rewards, however they will be slightly more expensive.

  • We will be offering three rewards for digital products, including PDF downloads of all of the journals we have available. Tangible product rewards will include copies of the hardcover version of the journals, as well as a journal box with various journal accessories.

  • If the project is fully funded, I will receive the monies in October and will get the printing process started as soon as able. The goal would be to have the hardcover journals printed and shipped by the end of November, and then available to backers in December. We will be in contact with backers throughout the printing and shipping process in order to keep them as updated as possible.
